Data protection

We take the security of your data very seriously. The following explanation gives you an overview of what kind of data we collect as well as for which purpose. This Privacy Policy applies only to this site. It is not valid for websites we may link to. We reserve the right to amend or change this privacy policy at any time.

How do we protect your data

All personal data is encrypted. For every data transfer, we use the so-called SSL (Secure Socket Layer) security system in conjunction with 256-bit encryption. This provides the highest level of security and is also used by banks for data protection in online banking, for example.

The payment process follows the highest security requirements. All data transmission takes place up to 256 bit SSL encrypted. In addition, credit card data is compiled and stored according to the strictest security requirements of the credit card industry, the so-called Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS for short). Personal, as well as card-related data, are thus protected according to the highest security standard.

Automated data collection by the browser

If you visit our website without buying, registering or otherwise, you can do so without revealing your identity. As with any website, our server automatically and temporarily collects and stores the usual server log files transmitted by the browser you are using, unless you have disabled them.

Examples of transmitted server log files:

– Browser type/version
– The used operating system of the requesting computer
– IP address of the requesting computer
– Time of the server request
– Location for the purpose of estimating possible taxes or shipping cost
– Products you’ve viewed to be able to show you products you recently viewed

We do not evaluate these server log files on a personal level nor do we assign these data to specific persons. Personal data is only collected when entering an order.

Collection of voluntarily communicated data

You can visit our website without logging in. If you provide us with personal data, such as your name and address, your e-mail address or your telephone number, via e-mail via our website, this is generally done on a voluntary basis. These voluntarily provided personal data are mainly used for processing your inquiries or your orders, to dispatch your ordered goods as well as for the payment of the goods.
When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password.

We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

– Send you information about your account and order
– Respond to your requests, including refunds and complaints
– Process payments and prevent fraud
– Set up your account for our store
– Comply with any legal obligations we have, such as calculating taxes
– Improve our store offerings
– Send you marketing messages, if you choose to receive them

If you create an account, we will store your name, address, email and phone number, which will be used to populate the checkout for future orders.

When using an online payment service (eg PayPal) and when paying by credit card, your data will be forwarded to the respective service provider for payment processing.

Personal data might also be collected and stored should you use other services such as

– at the newsletter registration providing your name and email address
– when contacting us providing your name and email address
– when registering and using your profile or wishlist
– when leaving a post or commenting on a blog on our website

The communication of your data is absolutely voluntary and at any time you are free to decide whether you want to communicate your data or not. The data you provide will only be used and stored for the purposes of market research, opinion polling and advertising if you have given your consent to do so.

If you have given this consent, you can also revoke it at any time. If you want to subscribe to our newsletter, we need your e-mail address. It will only be used to communicate with you through our newsletter and will not be shared with third parties. By subscribing to our newsletter, you agree that we store the data for the newsletter.

We offer you to store your personal data in a password-protected customer account. Thus, you do not have to enter your name and address again the next time you shop.

Who we share your data with

Your personal data will generally not be disclosed to or shared with third parties. Disclosing or sharing your personal data with third parties will only take place in the context of the processing your inquiries and/or your orders (for example to the shipping carrier for shipping your order or, depending on the payment method, to the respective financial service provider to process your payment).

When you visit the blog section of our website and leave a comment we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Payments

We accept payments through PayPal as well as all major credit cards. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to the financial institution or payment provider, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information.

For payments processed using PayPal, please see the PayPal Privacy Policy for more details.

For payments processed using your credit card, please see Stripe Privacy Policy for more details.

How long we retain your data

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 10 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.

If you leave a comment on our blog section, for example, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

– Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
– Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.
